Head Coach Glyn Powditch travels all over the world in his pursuit of martial arts excellence. He exchanges techniques and concepts with world class athletes throughout the year, every year. Everything he learns is brought back to SBG Rossendale.
This includes:
- Matt Thornton, a 5th Degree BJJ Black Belt under the legendary Chris Haueter, head of SBG Global and the head coach of SBG Vancouver in Vancouver, Washington.
- John Frankl, a 5th Degree BJJ Black Belt and head coach of SBG Korea.
- John Kavanagh, a 4th Degree BJJ Black Belt and head coach of SBG Ireland, where Conor McGregor trains.
- Stephen Whittier, a 4th Degree BJJ Black Belt and head coach of SBG East Coast in Dartmouth, Massachussets.
- Henry Akins, a 3rd Degree BJJ Black Belt and Rickson Gracie’s fastest ever Black Belt promotion.

SBG UK Camp
Each year, SBG UK affiliates gather from all over at SBG Manchester to share their collective wisdom. Some of Glyn’s recent teachings are below. Additionally, Glyn was awarded his 3rd Degree BJJ Black Belt by Matt Thornton at the 2023 SBG UK Camp.
SBG Bozeman, Montana
Glyn taught a class on the importance of breathing in Jiu Jitsu practice, so that you can remain calm and retain learnings better from one session to the next.
SBG Bishop Auckland
Glyn coached Judo takedowns using the 4 corner method shown to him by Judo coach Verity Stephens.
SBG Ireland
Glyn taught at SBG Ireland, with John Kavanagh, Alex Enlund, Davey Grant, Michael Heinz.
Tensho Gym, Hamburg
Glyn went to Tensho Gym with Matt Thornton.
